Dear members,
June has been a busy month for the Republican Party of
Shelby County. All three candidates have been
campaigning vigorously as August 7th approaches rapidly. Chris Turner, Bill Giannini, and Ray Butler
need your help. There are several ways of volunteering and anything you could
do would be greatly appreciated. Yard sign locations are going to be a big
help. Get with your neighbors and start finding key locations that we can use.
Our club exists to help elect moral and ethical Republican leaders in our community.
I am offering to be the contact person for all three candidates in regards to
sign locations. Please start e-mailing me as soon as possible with your
locations.
The Beans and Jeans fundraiser held at the Republican
Party Field Headquarters raised several thousand dollars for the sample ballot
being prepared to be mailed out soon. Party Chairman Bill Giannini was very
appreciative of the $500.00 donation made by the Northeast
Shelby Republican Club. Within the past year our club has donated
over $2500.00 to the Republican Party of Shelby County.
I am very proud of the way our club has been operating in terms of fundraising
and overall organization. There is a great core group of workers in the club
that just do a first-class job in anything asked of them.
Please join us at our next meeting on June 16th
as we entertain Mr. Josh Thomas as the featured speaker. Josh Thomas, presently serving as Field
Representative for United States Senator Lamar Alexander, has been politically
involved in the state of Tennessee most of his adult life. Graduating from the University of Memphis with a degree in Political Science, Josh put his skills to work managing
several political campaigns in the Memphis area, including serving as campaign manager for Judge Arnold Goldin. More
recently, Josh served as Deputy Political Director for Bob Corker’s Senate
Campaign in 2006 and Coalitions Director for the Tennessee Victory campaign during the same
year. Josh has been with the offices of Senator Lamar Alexander since 2003.
The 1st Annual Tracy Dewitt Fourth of July Memorial
Breakfast will take place from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. There is no cost for this event and it
serves as a great way to start out your 4th of July weekend
festivities. Be prepared to sing a patriotic song or two. I may pick you out of
the audience. More information will be sent out soon concerning this
event.
Invitations were sent out to both Congressman
Blackburn and Tom Leatherwood for a debate to be held at Bartlett City Hall that would be sponsored by our club. I will keep you posted if it comes to
fruition.
As
always, I appreciate the club’s hard work and invite everyone to bring a friend
and get involved. Membership is only $15.00 per year. Please join us next month
on July 21st as Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald will speak to the club. Mayor McDonald’s strong leadership
qualities and expert advice is something that all the citizens of Bartlett should be
extremely proud and appreciative. If you have any speakers in mind for the
upcoming months that you would like to hear, let me know and I will try to set
it up.
